What
do you do at Troy University?
People often ask this question; so please let me explain.
In
2000, I retired as the civilian Academic Provost of the USAF Air
University near Montgomery, to become a Professor of Education at Troy
University in Troy, Alabama. In 2003 I was named Director of the Institute
for Leadership Development and I have been honored with the title of
Distinguished Professor of Leadership.
I
love Troy University! The administrators, faculty and staff are superb
colleagues. But I especially love my interaction with the outstanding
undergraduate students at TROY.
At
TROY, I direct various leadership conferences and meetings, but my
favorite thing is teaching wonderful students—many of whom choose to
complete a minor in leadership studies. The TROY leadership
website
details the mission and scope of the Institute, but let me say this.
While many who are my age either choose or are forced to retire, I get the
opportunity to help many young people who will become leaders in the state
of Alabama and the nation—in government, education and business. I am
fortunate to be able to share my faith, my values and what I have learned
about leadership with a group of young people that I admire, respect and
love—and in whom I have the utmost confidence.
I am excited each
day to work at Troy University.
