Dr. John Kline

I recently spoke to 300 freshmen leadership students at Troy University. I wrote a poem to summarize the points. My July 2010 column addressed the first point. In future months I plan to write a column on each of the other four Pís. The poetry is not very good, but the ideas are excellent.

I wrote a little poem about
Five words that start with P
The first word to remember
Is the word, Priority

The next word to remember
Falls right in line, you see
It has to do with attitudes
And maintaining Positivity

The next word is so important
It requires your concentration
It takes your time and focus
That word is Preparation

The next word is also important
It requires your strict adherence
No leader will be successful
Without practicing Perseverance

That leaves just one more P for you
Shout it from the highest steeple
Itís all about the other folks
Leaders should help other People
